Air suspension spare parts for your car

544 matching parts found

Air suspension systems are also referred to as Airride chassis and are mainly retrofitted in sports cars or sports bikes. They are rarely installed by default from the factory. However, air suspension systems are advisable for mobile homes or vehicles with a longer wheelbase. Retrofitting an air spring is also advisable for very rear-heavy vehicles. How much does an air suspension cost? Of course, that depends on the manufacturer and the brand. At Q-Parts24 you can get very good products from Bilstein, Corteco or Arnott. The price range of an air spring chassis is around 500-2000 euros. Convince yourself of our product range of high-quality air suspension and suspension parts.

AIR SUSPENSION: advantages and uses

What brings air suspension? A clear advantage of an air suspension for vehicles is the steering behavior. Air suspension greatly reduces sensitivity to strong crosswinds. With this type of damping, bumps in the road, which wheels cannot cushion, are better compensated and offers a level of comfort that can definitely not be achieved with classic shock absorbers. This system controls the shock absorber force electronically and adapts to the circumstances such as the vehicle load, driving style or the condition of the road. Some manufacturers use air suspension as standard as additional comfort for passenger cars. They use the properties of an air spring chassis to lower the rear of the vehicle after opening the trunk lid and to raise it again after it has been closed. Another big plus is the possibility of being able to regulate the vehicle height downwards on longer motorway journeys. This reduces the vehicle air resistance, which is also reflected in the fuel consumption. This type of level control is also used off-road. If you would like to retrofit an air suspension, you can get all the necessary parts at a reasonable price from Q-Parts24.

HOW DOES AN AIR RIDE SUSPENSION WORK

The air suspension works according to the following principle. A compressor supplies the air spring with compressed air. Depending on whether the vehicle is to be raised or lowered, compressed air is pumped in or out. This requires some components that are located in the interior. These are a compressor, air hoses, air spring strut, solenoid valves and air tanks, which are necessary to generate the compressed air. The height is adjusted on the air bellows and spring struts. Depending on which standard chassis the vehicle is equipped with, the coil springs are replaced with air bellows. Of course, the appropriate shock absorbers must also be used for this. These can range from conventional shock absorbers to complex models with electronically adjustable damping hardness. The vehicle is raised and lowered by the air bellows. When pressure is applied, these inflate and thus lift the vehicle. When reduced, they decrease and lower the vehicle. This vented air is vented to atmosphere. The air flows are controlled by a solenoid valve via a switch in the interior and distributed from the air tank to the corresponding air bellows. By equalizing the pressure when the drain valve opens, the air in the bellows is released to the outside to drain the vehicle. The compressor draws in air from the environment and fills the air tanks in front of the solenoid valves. So that there is always enough compressed air available, the compressor switches on automatically when the minimum pressure is undershot and off again when the maximum pressure is exceeded.
