Design and function of the silencers
Depending on the installation position in the exhaust system, a distinction is made between front silencer, middle silencer and rear silencer. The appearance of the silencer is almost the same in all cases. A pipe with a larger middle section. In this part the sound is damped on different methods. A distinction is made between reflection silencers, interference silencers, absorption silencers and resonance silencers. It is also possible to combine different methods to cover an even larger frequency. Thus, silencers with different methods can be combined to one silencer or used individually. A feature that must be taken into account is the density. Exhaust fumes should not escape into the interior of the vehicle and thus represent a danger. Therefore we recommend to check your vehicle regularly and in the worst case to order new spare parts for the exhaust system online. Besides silencers we also offer exhaust pipes, catalytic converters, exhaust manifolds, Lambda sensors and more. Everything to upgrade your exhaust system!
Inside the silencer there are separators which brake the shafts and deflect them in different directions. Due to the reflection, sound waves are superimposed and the wave amplitudes are reduced by interference.
This principle is achieved by diverting the exhaust gas flow. The shaft is displaced compared to the original path. As soon as the sound waves meet in the end piece of the silencer, they cancel each other out.
Porous materials such as glass fibres or rock wool are used in this principle. They absorb the sound energy without reflecting the vibration. In the meantime friction is converted into heat, which reduces the sound energy.
Sound waves set the silencer in motion. The individual components generate new opposing sound waves through their own vibration. The wave amplitudes are thus erased.
