FUNCTION OF THE AXLE SUSPENSION

The suspension is the connection between the wheels and the body. Movements are transmitted from the wheel carriers to the chassis. While driving, it ensures that bumps in the road do not affect driving comfort. Bumps and bumps on the road are minimized by a flexible shape and suspension. In addition, the suspension must withstand the weight of the vehicle and the various influences of force, such as braking, drive, etc. A functional wheel suspension ensures safety while driving and minimizes tire wear.

SUSPENSION SHAPES

There are different forms of wheel suspension, a distinction is made between rigid axle, multi-steering axle and independent wheel suspension. Nowadays, when building a passenger car, the most common choice is independent suspension. Here, the wheels are guided independently of one another on the axle by components that work together. The difference to the rigid axle lies in the connection of the wheels to the body. With the rigid axle, the wheels are connected to a fixed axle body, which reflects the movement on the vehicle body. The multi-steering axle guides each wheel individually on the drive axle. There are four-link and five-link axles, rod links take over the respective wheel guidance for each wheel.
